Akshay Bahl
Home has always been my sanctuary—a place of comfort, connection, and belonging. I founded Delara to bring that feeling to others through thoughtfully crafted, sustainable home essentials that are designed to last.
The idea for Delara took shape when I realized the true impact of the textile industry—one of the largest polluters, responsible for 10% of global CO₂ emissions. While fast fashion often takes the spotlight in sustainability discussions, I saw an overlooked opportunity in home products—from bedding to towels and rugs—where a vast amount of textiles are used and discarded too easily.
This became even clearer when I was moving out of my apartment. I noticed piles of discarded towels, bedding, mattresses, and rugs, thrown away not because they were beyond use, but because they wore out too quickly or no longer fit modern tastes. It made me question: Why aren’t home essentials built to last? Why are so many of them disposable?
As I researched deeper, I found that many brands labeled as “organic” weren’t truly sustainable, and those that were came with a price tag that put them out of reach for most consumers. It became clear that for sustainability to be widely adopted, it had to be both accessible and practical.
That’s why I built Delara—not just to create beautiful, high-quality home essentials, but to rethink how they’re made, sourced, and brought to consumers. Through our Smart Logistics Project, we eliminate unnecessary middlemen, reduce transportation emissions, and source materials like organic cotton, wool, eucalyptus, linen, and recycled polyester in bulk. This allows us to offer premium, durable products at fair prices—ensuring sustainability isn’t a luxury, but a standard.
At Delara, we believe true comfort shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. Our mission is simple: to make timeless, responsibly crafted home essentials that people love, while setting a new standard for sustainability in the industry.
